2010 is Coming to a Close – Do You Know Where Your Estate Plan is?

On Behalf of | Nov 15, 2010 | Estate Planning |

November is here. In fact, November is half gone. In a week or so, we’ll be looking at Thanksgiving festivities. Less than a month after that, we’ll be cleaning the house for Christmas guests. With 2010 quickly approaching its close, it’s time to ask yourself about estate planning – whether you have a plan, one underway or nothing at all.

In many ways, 2010 was a boon to those planning their estates.

While the lack of an estate tax was highly-touted, and rightfully so, there were other things that made 2010 a good year to plan your estate. If you haven’t already, it’s time to take a look at your assets and consider taking advantage of the final few weeks of the year.

Last week, we finished up a series of posts on things to consider when creating an estate plan. For all of the steps we discussed, there are many more, less obvious – more nuanced, areas that are better explored on a person-by-person basis.

In these situations, it may be a good idea to seek the assistance of an estate planning attorney. At the very least, a comprehensive evaluation of your assets and estate is in order. The rest of the year is liable to be busy, but you’ll be happy you did.
